Variation in questioning to promote deeper understanding Teaching for Mastery at Secondary
Developing Teaching for Mastery at Secondary
This Work Group is part of a national project that explores areas of practice that are consistent with a teaching for mastery approach to the curriculum. This Work Group will specifically explore a specific element of T4M and develop participants understanding of how it can be used to inform planning and professional development decisions by departments.
Variation in questioning to promote deeper understanding
Run across the academic year, participants will have an opportunity to work collaboratively to understand, co-create materials and then develop practice back in school.
Audience: This is a small-scale project, aimed at schools that are interested in implementing a Teaching for Mastery approach to their mathematics lessons, but who would like to develop some of the basic principles first. Each school should enrol two class based teachers who are passionate about mathematics teaching and have a strong interest in Teaching for Mastery. Both teachers must attend all twilight sessions.
Venue: Burntwood School, Burntwood Lane, SW17 0AQ
Initial CPD twilight (5pm – 6.30 pm):
Thursday 22nd March 2018
Follow-up twilights (5pm - 7pm):
- Thursday 10th May 2018
- Thursday 7th June 2018
- Thursda 28th June 2018
